"More and more I have come to admire resilience.

Not the simple resistance of a pillow, whose foam

returns over and over to the same shape, but the sinuous

tenacity of a tree: finding the light newly blocked on one side,

it turns in another. A blind intelligence, true.

But out of such persistence arose turtles, rivers,

mitochondria, figs – all this resinous, unretractable earth."

A poem by Jane Hirshfield

I always go back to a phrase from Brene’ Brown. “Don’t shrink. Don’t puff up. Stand your sacred ground.” It soothes me, reminds me that I am enough and that my words/thoughts matter.

"Every time you call me crazy

I get more crazy

What about that?

And when you say I seem angry

I get more angry

And there's nothin' like a mad woman

What a shame she went mad

No one likes a mad woman

You made her like that

And you'll poke that bear 'til her claws come out

And you find something to wrap your noose around

And there's nothin' like a mad woman"

Mad Woman
